Hi all, just a quick update on what's been going on in life.

I've recently moved to Hamilton Island, a remote island more than 1000km north of Brisbane. You might have seen a couple of the photos I've uploaded, however you've probably also noticed that I've been a whole lot less active. This is because I'm working quite long hours and also the internet speed here is pretty pathetic, which makes loading dA pages with high-quality pictures a nightmare, and makes uploading even more of a nightmare. Nonetheless, there is a heap of photography to be done here, from the landscapes, to the wildlife, and particularly the marine life (Hamilton Island is situated on the Great Barrier Reef). While I'm here I intend to learn to sail, possibly learn to scuba dive, and if I do the latter, I will prbably start doing some underwater photography of the reef etc.

I've also just ordered a bunch of new gear: a D7000 body (one rung up the ladder from my current D5100 with a few extra features that I'mm beginning to need more and more), a Tokina 11-16mm version 1 lens, and also a Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens.

Brisbane, my home of the past 8 months, is Australia's third-largest city and the state capital of Queensland. Compared to its more famous southern cousins Sydney and Melbourne, it is somewhat of a "forgotten" city, although I have certainly enjoyed photographing it (a pursuit which earned my my first Daily Deviation).

Here is a small feature of some of the better Brisbane cityscape photographs on this website.

I have recently gotten into sports photography, and have made a Facebook page for my sports photos: One Five Hundredth Sports Imaging. The name is a reference to the shutter speed that you have to use for sports to prevent motion blur.

Mostly I will be shooting Queensland Cup rugby league games, as rugby league is my favourite sport. However I will also shoot other sports events from time to time.

Project 365

Hi folks,

As you all may have gathered, I haven't been devoting a whole lot of time to photography of late. Along with gaining admin responsibilities at young-photo-club, I've ramped up my gym schedule, plus I've been training and playing rugby league, and then there's work. Since getting a DD 6 weeks ago and picking up a bunch of new watchers, most of them haven't seen me submit much.

I still have a couple of rolls of film to get developed, but apart from that, I really want to get back into the swing of photography. So I've decided to embark upon Project 365. Some of you may have heard of this - it's when you take a photo a day for an entire year. To me it seems like a good idea. It motivates me to pick up a camera (whether it's my DSLR, a point and shoot, or my phone), and it will be cool to look back upon the year afterwards.

I will be sharing all of the photos here. Some will be artistic, some will be snapshots, and I'd imagine most will fall somewhere between the two. I hope you enjoy seeing my life unfold, day by day!

Today I was invited to become a contributor with one of my favourite groups, young-photo-club! I'm super stoked about it.

If you're a photographer and under 25, you should join!
